In the Wanderer, the short fables are certainly a scattered collection, but it seems to me that they are mostly tied together by the themes of the folly of human nature, and paradox of the people's inability to understand each other and truly communicate with each other, in spite of the ultimate interconnectedness of all things. Each little parable provides ample food for thought and I have to admit that I'm still puzzled over a few of them, but I hope to return to this book in the future, when I will likely have a different perspective on the ideas and observations that Gibran put forth here.

It contains small stories and poems full of moral wisdom with a sense of universality. One thing that I liked most was the word-play at which Zibran had a mastery. Reading sentences is like falling in love with him. Jun 15, Ruchika rated it it was amazing Shelves: 5-star-perfectionclassicspoetrychanged-how-i-see-thingsphilosophyshort-storiesreligion. Few writers approach writing with the simplicity that is Gibran. When I have children and I seek to imbue in them, a sense of ethics and morality, I shall turn to Gibran for their bedtime stories.

His parables are sparsely worded and yet, each one of them carries a far greater wealth of wisdom than your average novel. He picks up Few writers approach writing with the simplicity that is Gibran. He picks up common, everyday occurrences of life and weaves into them, the wisdom of the ages. His ambiguity is what makes him suitable for re-reading. Many of his tales in The Wanderer are centered around seeking oneself. And that is how Gibran redirects you from a moment in the present to a memory in the past and a pensive future.

The Wanderer also stresses on the abundant human emotions and our inability to distinguishone from the other. He personifies love and sorrow and in less than a hundred words, he tells you their entire story and encapsulates all their ambivalent emotions. He stresses on humanity, emotions and the contradictions that exist in the vast spaces of a human mind. He forces you to look within and find the answers that are hidden in the pages. Read this when you're looking forward to hours of musings and introspection.

It's the perfect book for a solitary holiday. A book of parables that I wouldn't the wanderer kahlil gibran pdf download have in my library. Weak praise for Gibran, but he sets a high standard for himself. Nov 25, W added it Shelves: philosophy. A collection of parables. Some are thought provoking, others not easy to comprehend. I enjoyed the delightful set of deep and hard to understand short fables. Whoever wants to be pulled back to the dimension of truth in the midst of all lies we live in. The writings of Gibran made me realize how wrong is our view of things and especially of their true value. Still, I still doubt if I did understand what he meant Jul 24, Adriana P.

My uncle gave me the wanderer kahlil gibran pdf download book and I'm so happy he did, the experience of reading this made me feel so at ease and think about everything Gibran wrote.

I hope to read more of this amazing man soon. Aug 03, Mohammad Ali Abedi rated it it was amazing. One thing I need to do is start reading more books from Asia, specially the Middle East. But Middle Easters are generally not very good at PRing their books to non-locals relatively, the wanderer kahlil gibran pdf download. Kahlil Gibran is my first real venture into this new field. But then I read one of his quotations on a wooden plaque somewhere and it grabbed me.

It was built of large stones carried down from among the hills, on the backs of the mules of Antioch. In passing to and fro over it you are riding upon the backs of the mules of Antioch, builders of this bridge. Is he not a little mad? And yet until now it has been said that the bridge was builded by King Antiochus. But tell me, what did you write?
